Kenyan Envoy Concludes Rwanda Tour

The outgoing Kenyan Commissioner to Rwanda Rose Makena Muchiri has said the two and a half years duty to Rwanda was warm and cordial.

She commended the existing cooperation between the two countries describing it as a ‘brotherhood’ and “we are very happy about it”.
She made the remarks February 22.

“I have been in Rwanda for over 2 years. I am heading to Hague to be an Ambassador of Kenya to Netherland,” Ambassador Muchiri said.

She added that Rwanda is her home adding that Rwanda is known of its beauty and Security.

Commenting on areas of Cooperation, Amb. Rose Makena Muchiri said Kenya and Rwanda have been working closely in many areas citing investments, Education, Hospitality, Energy and Agriculture among others.

“We have seen a good flow in both ways of investment in the business arena,” She said.

In the area of Energy, there were a lot of capacity building, collaboration between institutions like EWSA to fast track access to Electricity.

“Energy is key for Rwanda’s development so is it for Kenya”, Muchiri acknowledged.

And we are not just looking at one source of Energy, we are looking at Geothermal, we are looking at hydro, we are looking at all kinds of renewable energy, so we have worked very closely on that,” She explained.

In Agriculture, Ambassador Muchiri said the special focus as put on food security adding that she worked closely with Kenyan engineers coming to Rwanda and she has been able to help them with the registration issues.

“Kenyans are coming to Rwanda because Rwanda needs progress in food security and securing and feeding everybody so how we worked together is commendable,” She noted.

In Education, there is issue of teaching English language and Rwanda has made it a priority to improve the level of English in schools and Kenya has provided teachers to implement that priority.
