12 September 2014, Kigali, Rwanda; {Hundreds of children spent the afternoon at the Kimisagara Football for Hope Centre in Kigali on Thursday to celebrate the arrival of new footballs donated by Kempinski Hotels as part of its Just for Kicks campaign. }

In June Kempinski Hotels pledged to donate one football for every goal scored during the 2014 World Cup to the NGO “Esperance”, which uses football as a tool to promote social development in Rwanda.

Following a gourmet lunch for the children prepared by the chefs of Hotel des Mille Collines by Kempinski, more than 200 young footballers jumped, danced, and dribbled with excitement as 171 footballs were poured onto the pitch.

The honorable Minister of Culture and Sports Mr. Joseph Habineza then addressed the country’s future World Cup hopefuls, talking to them about the importance of team work and fair play.

A dozen teams put the new balls to good use during a fast-paced mini-tournament, which was followed by a BBQ for the players and children from the neighborhood.

Kempinski is committed to supporting the local communities wherever it operates, and by partnering with Esperance for the Just for Kick campaign it has established a key partnership for contributing to the development of the community in Kigali.
