KCB Bank Rwanda offers treatment services to cataract patients

The Corporate Social Responsibility event was held at Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital where the eye surgeries were performed.

The patients have been selected from the districts of Gasabo and Nyarugenge. The most vulnerable have been given preference mainly for eye surgery to cure cataract disease.

At the occasion, a total of 20 patients received treatment to correct various optical deficiencies.

“We owe it to our communities to give back and restore good health and dignity where possible,” said Mr. George Odhiambo, Ag. Managing Director KCB Bank Rwanda.

“Restoration of sight can go a long way in enabling one to be self-reliant which builds hope and encourages personal growth” he added.

The patients were thrilled to be able to see again after years of partial or total blindness in some cases.

“Now that I am able to see, I can’t wait to visit my children and friends” said Munyambuga Ibrahim, a patient who had cataract in both eyes.

KCB Bank Rwanda also offered consultancy and free eye checkup for its customers who appreciated the gesture.

“It is just touching to have your bank give you a courtesy call concerning your health especially eye care which can at times be so costly,” said a KCB customer.

The KCB Foundation supports various aspects of the local community through the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives under five key areas; Education, Enterprise Development, Health, Environment and Humanitarian Aid.
