Kamonyi, Burera CPCs asked to be characterized by integrity

{Members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in Kamonyi and Burera districts have been urged to be characterized by high sense of integrity which is a major driver for effective community policing.}

The call was made on January 26 during separate meeting held in Runda and Ruyenzi sectors in Kamonyi, and in Rusarabuye sector of Burera district.

Chief Inspector of Police (CIP), Marcel Kalisa, while speaking to CPCs in Runda and Ruyenzi, commended their role in crime prevention.

He appealed to them to strengthen their cooperation with security organs to ensure crimes in communities are jointly prevented or detected.

“You play an integral part to make community policing success in identifying, fighting and preventing crimes. You should not slide… you should build on what has been achieved,” CIP Kalisa told the CPCs.

He asked them to be exemplary.

“Being exemplary is an ideal that every dedicated and focused leader should showcase if you want to win public trust and strong partnership,” he noted.

In Burera, Jean Marie Vianney Mwumvira, who is in charge of civil affairs in Rusarabuye, lauded Police’s continued efforts and initiatives to fight and prevent crimes in the country.

Mwumvira challenged members of community policing committees to put into actions the advice delivered to them to execute their policing duties effectively and improve safety in their communities.

Boniface Sibomana, one of the CPCs in Rusarabuye said, “This meeting is very important, it reminds us of what the public expects from us, our role to supplement policing initiatives and make them successful to further make our communities and the entire country safer.”
