{The political instability in Burundi is becoming more severe and its effects over-spilling. Since the beginning of the Burundi security crisis following President Pierre Nkurunziza’s decision to run for another term, Burundi has been alleging Rwanda to be behind the crisis, an accusation Rwanda has called false.}
In a message President Paul Kagame delivered through his twitter account, he talked about what is taking place in Burundi and said that as an African from Rwanda is worried over people who don’t learn from history.
President Kagame wrote; “No amount of provocation is going to draw us into this…and not any solution is going to come from it…Whoever assisted Burundi leaders on this, even from afar has only added misery to the tragedy. Can only wonder why?”
“As usual …when the toll will be finally counted and found to be too high and questions asked about responsibility to protect, simple answer ‘we did not know…’Read ‘we did not want to know’..The argument will go on and on…and life will continue to be lost …instead of never again…we have …yet-again!!!” he added.
Over 75,000 Burundi refugees have fled to Rwanda since the beginning of the security crisis in Burundi in May last year. However, Burundi government recently accused Rwanda of training refugees with an alleged intention of overthrowing the leadership of President Nkurunziza.
