Kagame in Qatar for a two-day official visit

The two Heads of States had last met on September 24 this year as they participated in the 73rd United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

Their talks then focused on how to improve and maintain bilateral relations in different areas particularly the economy, investment, and tourism.

The Emir of Qatar talked with President Kagame about the problems affecting the region and the globe and the role Qatar can play in enhancing the security and safety among the member states of the African Union.

On February 18 this year, President Kagame met Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al-Thani in Munich, Germany where they discussed how both countries can enhance their relations and how existing challenges can be addressed.
In May last year, Rwanda and Qatar signed agreements to establish diplomatic relations. Qatar Airways carries out flights between Kigali and Doha and other directions including Dubai.

On May 26, 2015, the two nations signed partnership agreements related to fight against drugs. They were signed at the sidelines of Qatar International Anti-Drug Forum that was held in Doha.

The anti-drug partnership agreements were signed at the end of the year 2014. There are drug dealers arrested in Rwanda then after passing at Doha International Airport on their way from Southern America.
