The number of jobless people around the world rose by 4 million in 2012 to 197 million and is expected to grow further, the UN labour agency warns.
In a report, the International Labour Organization (ILO) said the worst affected was youth: nearly 13% of the under 24s were unemployed.
The problem of Jobless has not left Rwanda despite Government of Rwanda putting more effort in creating new employments especially among Youth community.
At about 7 AM IGIHE came across a group of Jobseekers standing along the road heading to Biryogo 40st in Nyarugenge District.
Some of the jobseekers say, “they wake up early morning and line up near the road to wait for some employers who can even give them a one day job so that they can feed their family”.
Jobseekers said they are able to do many things adding that the problem is financial capital to start their own business.
Speaking to IGIHE the Mayor of Nyarugege District, Mukasonga Solange says, “The District encourages jobseekers to form cooperatives so that they can receive support to start other activities that can generate income for them.”
The Mayor added that sectors from which Jobseekers stay, should help them to identify other sources of income as well as helping them to form groups to which the District and its stakeholders could invest money.
Global unemployment was projected to rise 5.1 million this year and by a further 3 million in 2014.
