{{The Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA is dispatching a mission to identify opportunities and challenges of Rwandan Coffee Sector.}}
It serves to develop Rwandan Coffee’s quality and to trigger increase in coffee export to Asian Countries like Japan.
JICA Mission Team composed of Mr. Kawashima and consultants is visiting Rwanda from March 20 to 26.
Mr. Kawashima, who is called “Coffee Hunter”, has thirty years’ experience to develop and manage coffee plantation in Jamaica, Hawaii and Indonesia to market high quality beans to Japanese market.
He is now managing a retail store providing specialty coffee from all over the world.
The team will visit coffee growing area in Rutsiro and Ngoma District to observe the situation and give advices to producers.
They will also interview coffee exporters, MINAGRI, NAEB and RAB to collect information.
It is expected that advices by the team improve the quality of Rwandan Coffee, and the team transfer the information of Rwandan Coffee to Japanese buyers.
