The forthcoming 19th Genocide commemoration will require wearing grey colour as opposed to the purple.
Minister of Sports and Culture announced the new changes saying commemoration will be held at village level (umudugudu).
Protais Mitali further noted that commemoration activities will commence April 7.
The commemoration will be held under the theme ‘Let’s remember the Genocide against Tutsis striving for self-reliance.’
“We want the commemoration week to be more people-centered which is why we have chosen to hold it at village level,” Said Mitali.
As for color, the Minister explained that traditionally Rwandan used to use ashes which look like Grey Color during Sadness event, however, added the Minister; the purple will be used for those who will not be able to Have Grey Color.
