{Israel’s ambassador to Rwanda, Belaynesh Zevadia visited the Rwanda National Police Headquarters in Kacyiru on May 4, where he was received by the Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana. }
Zevadia, whose office in Addis Ababa covers Burundi, Ethiopia and Rwanda, was briefed on the Rwanda National Police 14-year policing journey since it was established in the year 2000.
IGP Gasana noted that RNP considers cooperation as a vital tool in modern policing and to effectively deal with the ever emerging security threats.
“In face of today’s challenging policing arena, we believe that cross-border cooperation, joint training, operation and exchange of ideas is vital to combat cross-border crimes,” he said.
On her part, Zevadia said that Rwanda and Israel enjoy a friendly relation which the two countries will continue to take further to another level.
“We love Rwanda and is considered a friendly country to Israel. We would like to see what we can do together in various development aspects,” Ambassador Zevadia said.
“We have discussed on areas that we can cooperate in the future and what Rwanda police can benefit from Israel policing experience.”
“We would like to see what we can do together between Rwanda and Israel police forces. Can we bring someone to train Rwandan police officers or can we take the officers to be trained in Israel. These are things we will discuss further because Rwanda is our true friendly country.”
“We have 120 Rwanda students studying in Israel and we are taking the same number this year. We hope these students will play a great role in the transformation of this country, especially in the field of agriculture. We therefore want to take this friendly cooperation further, even in aspects of security.”
