Irish farmers in collaboration with Rwanda Agriculture Board have purchased cows to be distributed among poor families as support to Girinka Program.
Since February 11, the Rwanda Agriculture Board has started distributing a 100% Holstein Fresian cows among poor families in Rusizi District.
The exact number of cows to be distributed are 72 from Ireland. One of the cows gave birth to a calf on arrival in Rwandan.
The cows weigh 600kg each and they are from Irish recommended farms.
Kagabo Andrew the coordinator of Girinka program said that the cows will be distributed among poor families of two sectors Giheke and Nyakarenzo of Rusizi district, and each beneficiary will have access to cattle drug accompaniment.
