Intwarane sentenced to Five Years in Prison

{The High Court in Kigali has sentenced a group of seven members of a Christian organisation called “INTWARANE ZA YEZU NA MALIYA” to Five Years in Prison.}

The high court also cleared Charges against three others.

INTWARANE ZA YEZU NA MALIYA” was arrested in July last year for taking part in an illegal demonstration.

The demonstration was dispersed near the presidential residence located in Kiyovu where the group said they wanted to present a prophetic message on the apocalypse to Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

The court on Monday said they were sentenced to Five years after finding that although they participated in the demonstration they did not have power to influence general public.

Such organizations whose activities are described by analysts as religious business have also been accused of intoxicating the people’s minds by dividing them into ethnic and regional groupings.
