According to the Rwanda Correctional Services (RCS) spokesperson, CIP Hillary Sengabo, Byumvuhore 22 was recaptured while he was still within court grounds.
“He was recaptured at the Supreme Court gate while attempting to escape. He was clad in casual ware having discarded prisoners uniform, but he was rearrested,” he said.
He said that investigations have got underway continues to establish the reason behind the attempt to identify the person who brought him clothes.
“We suspect his relatives who were present in court brought him the clothes which he put on as he went to the toilets where he entered with fellow inmates and used the opposite door to exit,” he explained.
Byumvuhore, is now detained at Nyanza Prison in Nyanza District of Southern Province. He is on charges of terrorism along with other 36 accomplices.
