{{After about five months, Victoire Ingabire is expected to appear in Supreme Court on 25 March to hear the decision about an appeal against her sentence lodged by prosecution.}}
Ingabire was sentenced to 8years in jail after she was found guilty of terrorism charges, endangering state security and denying the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
The Rwanda courts publicist, Kaliwabo Charles told IGIHE, “The date for Ingabire to appear in court has been set at 25 March unless there are any changes that might arise.”
During her sentencing in October 29, 2012, Ingabire was cleared of charges of promoting genocide ideology, saying all the statements Ingabire made did not indicate that she was calling for genocide.
Prosecution argues that judges didn’t consider some provisions of the law while sentencing Ingabire and thus were not satisfied with her sentencing saying she had been given a light sentence compared to the gravity of her offence.
The Prosecution spokesperson Alain Mukuralinda said they decided to appeal against the sentencing after carefully reading through the court decision.
