{Two top administrators of the former Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education (INATEK) which has recently changed to UNIK have been arrested over alleged misappropriation of university’s wealth.}
The arrested include Dr.Emmanuel Hafashimana Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administration and Finance and Kayumba Patrick, the Director of Finance and Administration.
Information IGIHE has received indicates that Kayumba Patrick forged a tender document while Dr Hafashimana signed for the bills of the ghost market without verification of what he was signing for.
It is said that Kayumba forged documents for a bid worth Rwf 9 million.
The fraud was identified after a comprehensive audit of UNIK books of accounts.
Dr Hafashimana is a military officer of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) which posed the need for the two suspects to be tried by military court martial.
IGIHE tried to talk to the spokesperson of RDF, Lt Col Ngendahimana René who was by then busy with other duties.
