The week-long second edition of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) ended on August 12 and brought together seven out of 14 member states.
While addressing the players at RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, IGP Gasana thanked the players for their discipline, teamwork and commitment, which he called a “driving force towards success.”
RNP competed in six disciplines; football, handball, athletics, Karate, Taekwondo and shooting. They bagged 45 medals in all competitions, including 25 gold medals.
“You made us proud; maintain the impetus, and importantly strive to gain more skills to excel in future competitions,” IGP Gasana said, pledging institutional support to promote sports both in the force and the country in general.
“Sports is one of the aspects of EAPCCO as officers get to interact, get to know each other and build working relations under the overall objective of strengthening cross-border cooperation to effectively address emerging security challenges together,” said IGP Gasana.
EAPCCO is a law enforcement body bringing together 14 countries in the region. Founded in 1998, the body was formed as a regional practical response to the need to join police effort against transnational and organized crime.
