Huye: Kabutare Hospital employees get firefighting skills

{A total of 73 staff including medics of Kabutare Hospital in Huye district received training on how to fight fire outbreaks and how to be prepared whenever a fire accident occurs.}

The training was delivered yesterday by Inspector of Police (IP), Clement Mberamiheto, the Huye District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), who explained to the trainees that most of the fire incidents result from short circuits caused by damaged, poor and old electrical installations, while overloading weak electrical gadgets is also another notable cause.

The hospital staff and administration were shown a demonstration on how to use various firefighting gadgets such as fire extinguishers, water and sand to put out fire.

“Fire guts property worth millions yet it can be prevented. Simply secure your facilities and equip buildings with firefighting equipment,” he said.

He appealed to the trainees and the general public to toll free hotlines 111 and 112, as well as telephone numbers, 07888311224, 07888311120 and 0788311335 in case of fire outbreak.
