Huye: DASSO urged to be exemplary in community policing

Huye District police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Francis Muheto has urged members of District Administration Security Support Organ-(DASSO) to be more vigilant in encouraging people to be part of community policing initiative.

CSP made the call on February 23, during a meeting that brought together over 50 members of DASSO in Ngoma sector of Huye District.

“You must earn the trust of the people by behaving professionally and with high levels of discipline. You should as well encourage them to work closely with security organs in fight against crimes,” said the DPC.

“Remember that information is power; this is why we always encourage people to report in time; and how you utilize it is also very important. Always share the information you have with police in order to respond timely.” he insisted.

CSP Muheto however thanked the officers for the good work in crime prevention saying that their presence on the ground has been of great impact.

The District Executive Secretary, Vedaste Nshimiyimana, expressed gratitude towards police for its steadfast professionalism and commended the existing relationship between RNP and local authorities, which has helped to ensure human security.

“We should also intensify our neighborhood watch programme as a measure of crime prevention. As DASSO, you should work hard and ensure that citizens trust you with information. Do not get caught in drunkenness or violence, which will destroy the image of DASSO, but always conduct yourselves in an appropriate and professional manner,” he said.
