The mute child hailing from Kiduha Village, Ryakibogo Cell drowned on Monday 22nd August 2022 around 6p.m.
By the time he drowned, Ishimwe was along with four children grazing goats and their grandfather identified as Telesphole Ndagijimana, 70, who was grazing a cow.
The old man recounted that the children who were behind alerted him that his grandchild had fallen in the dam. Ndagijimana tried to rescue the child but ended up in vain.
The Executive Secretary of Gishamvu Sector, Vianney Nkubana has told IGIHE, by press time, that the body has not yet been retrieved.
He urged parents to prevent children’s movements around the dam.
Kadahokwa dam was created in 2014. Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC) has been treating its water to be distributed to Huye District.
Similar incident last happened in the dam in 2020.
