About 222 youths at Iwawa’s Rehabilitation and Vocational Development Centre have been baptized by ADEPR church in a move to denounce previous illegal acts.
The baptized confessed they will no longer consume drugs as well as not engaging in criminal acts.
The move followed many worship sessions organized by ADEPR evangelists at Iwawa.
In their testimonies, the newly baptized revealed that they were addicted to alcohol and cigarettes, opium and other drugs which induced them into criminal activities.
“As partners with the Correctional Centre of Iwawa, we spread the gospel to these young people and teach them writing and reading skills and other development activities,” said Pastor Jean Sibomana, spokesman of ADEPR church in Rwanda.
Iwawa Correctional Centre accommodates about 1930 youth and most of them were addicted to drug use.
