The Rwanda Human Rights Commission has renovated houses of orphans that lost their parents in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi that claimed a million lives.
Renovations were part of commemorating 64 years of the international treaty on prevention against genocide.
Houses renovated included those of orphans living in Nyenyeri,Rubengera Sector.
Niyonzima Etienne of the Human Rights Commission handed a cheque worth Frw 1,650,000 to secure cement and sand that will be used in the renovation of the houses.
He said that the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi left behind a lot of suffering and poverty to survivors, “it’s the duty of every Rwandan to provide help and be there for the survivors always”.
