How Can Youth With Good Business Ideas Become Entrepreneurs?

An entrepreneur is a person who identifies a business opportunity and risks the time and money to start a business. A business is any activity that seeks profit by providing goods and services to people. However any form of business begins as a result of business idea conceived by an innovative and creative entrepreneur. A business idea can be defined as an innovative spirit of analyzing the business opportunity in relation to the present environmental circumstance and needs in the community which can be developed to produce actual business. When people complete their education they expect to get well paying jobs. This poses the question of “who” should provide such jobs since there is unemployment in our country. The youth as the main manpower should be able to come up with business ideas and be able to start businesses if the development of the county is to be rapid. This can be achieved in collaboration with very many strategies that are fully developed below;

{{The business ideas should first match with proper business plan}}. It is amazing how many people are eager to start a business but have only a vague notion of what they want to do. Eventually they come up with an idea for a business and begin discussing the idea with professors, friends, and other business people. It is at this stage that an entrepreneur needs a business plan. This is a guiding document used in the implementation of a business idea. It comes after a feasibility study of a project has been undertaken. A business plan describes the background, objectives, and marketing strategies, technical aspects, human resource, financial and implementation aspects of a business. “One who fails to plan, is planning for failure”

One of the objections young entrepreneurs often have when encouraged to start their own business is that “Everything has been already tried.” That simply isn’t true. You have probably seen ideas of your own put into practice by someone else—someone else who made all the profits. Although the number of possibilities seem smaller than, say, 50 years ago, the opportunities for new, creative business ideas are still lurking in a veiled reality somewhere, awaiting discovery by an innovative entrepreneur—may be you.

{{You must be willing to take risks}}. This doesn’t mean to be reckless; it means being comfortable with trying things that could possibly fail. It means feeling that you control your own fate—that you affect circumstances at least as much as they affect you.

{{You must be able to see the possibilities in new ways of doing things}}. You need to be able to “see the big picture” with both creativity and practicality. An entrepreneur cannot be too set in the old ways of doing things—or of perceiving reality.

{{You need to be self-starter}}—someone who doesn’t need to have others’ tells you what to do and when. An entrepreneur should be motivated. Getting up in the morning should be exciting and challenging rather that threatening or depressing.

{{You need to be ambitious and competitive}}. Entrepreneurs often have to work hard and long hours, especially in the first few years in business. A successful entrepreneur sees himself as a winner and expects to win. You also need the health and physical stamina to work long hour day after day. “Nothing ever comes to one, that is worth having, except as a result of hard work”. T. Washington

{{You need to be someone who is not easily discouraged}}. Many successful business people have experienced setback after setback, but they refuse to see setbacks as “failures”. An entrepreneur should see setbacks as lessons that won’t have to be learned again. For a successful entrepreneur, failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. Problems are not stop signs, they are guidelines.

Conclusively we may say that every great building was once a map and every king was once a crying baby as every successful business was once an idea perceived by someone. Therefore, if Rwanda is having the youth with good business ideas it is one of the future economically best countries. Since the youth is the future for our country then no unemployment, unlimited job applications and focus on international aid anymore for the development of Rwanda. However this will be achieved through government collaboration with the youth so as to discover their talents to be nurtured for bringing up people with good entrepreneurial characters such as self-confidence, decision making, and synergy, risk taking as already explained. If this is done effectively, the future Rwanda is self-sufficient and even able to help other nations. International aids will be history and even the dignity of Rwanda itself is going to be internationally recognized.
