Hope Academy Rwanda’s Solidarity Festival ends with delivery of goods to Les Enfants de Dieu

Yesterday, 18th May, saw the finale to the annual Solidarity Festival at Hope Academy Rwanda with the delivery of donated goods to the rehabilitation centre, Les Enfants de Dieu, Kigali.

Parents of Hope Academy Rwanda students had risen to the challenge set by the school administration to do everything possible to improve the lives of the street boys at Les Enfants de Dieu. Some of the items donated include rice, clothes, computers, and mattresses, and the school itself gave the centre’s classrooms three new chalkboards.

The children at the centre welcomed the parents, staff and students of Hope Academy Rwanda with drumming, dancing and gymnastics to show their appreciation for the efforts their visitors had put in to helping them. There were speeches from Charles Hazabintwali, the programme co-ordinator at Les Enfants de Dieu, and Isa Gokturk Yilmaz, Headmaster of Hope Academy Rwanda, thanking everyone for their efforts and expressing gratitude for the success of the Festival.

Hope Academy Rwanda has held several events over the past three months to raise money for Les Enfants de Dieu and raised a grand total of over $10,000 in cash and goods donations. The cash raised will be used to renovate the bathrooms/toilets and fund health insurance as well as school uniforms for the children at the centre.

The Hope Academy Rwanda Solidarity Festival Committee would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who have been involved in the Festival. It was a team effort and the Festival would not have been the success it was without the ongoing support of the Hope Academy family and the wider community.
