Heavy rains early this week ravaged Busogo and Gataraga sectors of Musanze district where 37 houses were completely destroyed, ravaged 29 houses, killed 32 livestock and eroded farmers’ crops.
Following the disaster, they Ministry of Disaster and Refugees Affairs(MIDIMAR) has provided basic materials to affected families including casseroles,cups,blankets,buckets and other hygiene materials.
The affected people have been also condoled by parliamentarian honorable Nyagahura Marguerite who promised them urgent advocacy.
Beneficiaries of the urgent donations have commended received support but requested to be relocated from disaster prone zones since it is not the first time they have faced similar disasters in the locality.
The executive secretary of Gataraga, Ruberwa Roger told IGIHE that many houses were seriously affected that it can’t be easy to keep residing in such destroyed houses as they would bring more calamities.
Ruberwa said that it has been long since such disasters occurred in the region but highlighted that they are going to seek solution in collaboration with regarded parties.
