Healthcare costs set to rise

{The Prime Minister, Anastase Murekezi has said that the costs of accessing public health services are bound to rise from December 2016. }

He made the notice yesterday as he presided over the closing ceremony of civic education organized for health services providers in Rwanda that took place in Gabiro of Gatsibo district, Eastern Province.

“The cost of health care services is set to rise this month to be done in accordance the ministerial order,” he said.

The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr Jean Pierre Nyemazi has told IGIHE that the rise of health care cost won’t affect patients as the difference will be paid by medical insurance companies only.

“Patients won’t have any problems since the additional cost will be covered by the insurance company. That is why we encourage all people to have insurance cover,” said Nyemazi.

The actual additional costs will be revealed as the decision goes into force.
