Govt chauffeurs commemorate

The commemoration event took place on last Sunday, 27th May 2018, and started by a Walk-to-Remember procession that was followed by a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Speaking with IGIHE, the President of Association of Chauffeurs for state Officials, Rugira Serge, said that commemorating was the strongest arm to ensure that the Genocide never occurs again.

“We were drawn to do this by a desire to commemorate our history, but also to remember Chauffeurs who perished during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis ”, he said

Rugira added that there were some chauffeurs that were actively involved in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis, advising his peers not to follow their steps, but to actively fight against Genocide ideologies.

“We are asking Chauffeurs in general to actively fight against Genocide ideologies. Our actions should not be influenced by our employers, so to ensure that the Genocide never occur again”, he remarked

The Chauffeurs also donated foodstuffs and home appliance worth Rwf300 000 to an elder family in Gisozi sector.
