{{Government has announced plans to impound all cars held by former public officials that they acquired on Loans but have not paid since leaving public offices.}}
The Cars targeted are aimed at helping government recover over Frw1Billion to clear the loan that was used by the government to purchase them.
Public officials that acquired these cars were required to pay 50% of the loan and the other 50% paid by the government.
However, some officials have since been fired from their offices and took away with the cars without clearing the loan and never bothered to continue paying even when out of their offices.
James Kamanzi, The Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, said some officials that were removed from public service took away these cars and continued using them.
However, Kamanzi said its a difficult excersise adding that Police will be called upon to assist in recovery of the cars.
