Gor Mahia close in on Rayon Sports duo

{Rayon Sports pair of left back Abouba Sibomana and right back Karim Nizigiyimana are in advanced talks with Kenyan giants Gor Mahia ahead of a proposed move this month.}

The dependable duo is in Nairobi to complete permanent moves following inquiries made by the Kenyan champions last year after an exodus of players like David ‘Calabar’ Owino, who signed for Zesco United of Zambia nine days ago.

Nizigiyimana revealed to Times Sport of Rwanda, “It is true that I am in Nairobi. I want to convince Gor Mahia to allow me join at the end of National Football League in Rwanda.”

The Kenyan Premier League commences next month and Gor Mahia head coach Frank Nuttall, who has been offered a two-year contract, will be hoping to guide K’Ogalo to a third consecutive league title and a record 15th as well as an improved performance in Caf Champions League.

Asked whether Gor Mahia has finalised a deal for the Rayon Sport defenders, he said, “We are always looking for good players.”

The 25-year-old Sibomana, who has represented Rwanda national team since 2010 is a dependable player for the Nyanza-based side but has failed to attend training consistently in the last one month.

Rayon Sports spokesman Aime Emmanuel Niyomusabye said, “Players are currently on a break and as far as we are concerned they can go wherever they want to go. Nevertheless, we have not given Abouba Sibomana and Karim Nizigiyimana permission to talk to other clubs.”

“However, if players want to leave Rayon Sports, we do not have a problem with that as long as they go through proper channels. Players come and go and if they leave, we shall replace them with others who will be willing to join our club.”

Rayon Sports is currently fourth on the table standings with 21 points from 13 games at the end of first round, 11 behind arch-rivals and table leaders APR, who are five clear of second placed AS Kigali.
