Gicumbi District of Rwanda and kabale District of neighbouring Uganda have signed cooperation agreements.
The agreements will focus on different sectors including Education, Economy, culture, Health and social welfare of residents of both Districts.
The two cross border districts will regularly meet to discuss various issues targeting sustainable development.
Patrick Besigye Keirwa who represented Kabale delegation during the event said the agreement marks good relationship that exists between Rwanda and Uganda.
Commenting on Health cooperation, the Mayor of Gicumbi District Mvuyekure Alexandre said the two districts will exchange timely information about disease outbreaks as well as taking measures to avoid them being spread among local communities.
Throughout discussions, both sides have concluded that measures should be set up to arrest smugglers of crude gin (Kanyanga) from Uganda which is sold across into Rwanda where it is classified as illegal.
