These residents including 20 women, three men and four children were found gathered yesterday around 2pm in a house of a resident in Busa village, Remera cell of Manyagiro sector, Gicumbi district.
Violators were taken to Cyumba Police Station to be educated on preventive measures.
Speaking to IGIHE, the Head of Community Policing in Northern Province, CIP Alex Ndayisenga requested residents to avoid complacency.
“Violators have been taken at Cyumba Police Station to be educated on preventive measures and fined for the violation. We arrested them on tip off from residents who alerted us that people are used to gathering at the house for congested prayers breaking COVID-19 preventive measures,” he said.
“We appeal to residents to avoid complacency the pandemic has not been defeated but rather continue adhering to COVID-19 preventive measures,” added CIP Ndayisenga.
Violators were congested while some of them were not wearing face masks.
