{{German has unfrozen Aid to Rwanda which it had previously suspended seeking clarification from Rwanda over allegations contained in a UN experts report that claimed Rwanda was supporting M23 Rebels in DRC.}}
The news of restoring planned aid to Rwanda came shortly after the visiting German Development Minister Dirk Niebel on Monday met with Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi.
Niebel told press, “When we froze Aid to Rwanda, we did so based on the information available to us, and releasing aid back to Rwanda was also done based on facts presented by government of Rwanda.”
He was responding to reporters on whether freezing aid to Rwanda was based on the UN Group of Experts Report that accused Rwanda of helping create, arm and support the M23 rebel movement in violation of UN sanctions.
In July 2012, when German suspended aid to Rwanda, Minister Niebel said in a statement said he expected “unreserved co-operation” by Rwanda with the UN experts. “The accusations must be cleared up completely, and it must be clear that Rwanda does not support any illegal militias in eastern Congo.”
German had extended US$ 26Million of Budget planned aid to Rwanda from 2012 through 2015.
