The suspect identified as Stepen Gatari with the help of his brother Fred Kamanzi are said to have strangled Joseph Kamanayo to death owing to an unresolved family dispute involving land. }}
The incidence happened at Ngarama Secto, Gatsibo district. Kamanzi is still at large but police has intensified the search to apprehend the suspect.

Superintendent Christopher Semuhungu, Spokesperson for Eastern Province has condemned the murder and called upon residents to seek assistance from reputable organs, local or national, to settle family disputes and reduce crimes and save people’s lives.
According to residents in the area, the family had been embroiled in a land wrangle before taking the matter into their own hands.
If proven guilty, by the court of laws, the suspects will face a life imprisonment.
