{{Kigali, December 9, 2013}} – {Tigo Rwanda the most innovative telecommunications company in Rwanda last week, marked the international day of persons with disabilities by supporting Gatagara School. This a Centre for children with disabilities based in Huye district.

Through a partnership with the National Council for Person with Disabilities (NCPD), Tigo donated digital equipment; Internet connectivity and healthcare plans for over 150 children.
Gatagara School, located in the Southern province of Rwanda, was founded in 1960 with the aim to ensure the rights to education and healthcare for children with disabilities are respected.
Tigo’s donation to Gatagara includes five computers with a one-year Internet connectivity, healthcare plans for a period of one year to fully cover over one hundred and fifty children, twenty cartons of text and story books, twenty boxes of chalks, fifteen blackboards plus lots of playthings.
Speaking at the event held in Huye Town, Manager, Corporate Responsibilities at Tigo Rwanda, Christine Mukundwa said Tigo was participating in the day as part of its commitment to improving the lives of Rwandans, especially those with special needs. “Tigo is a responsible company and we are happy to partner with organizations sharing a similar philosophy in this noble cause.” she said.
“At Tigo we believe that Introducing children with disabilities to the digital lifestyle and ensuring their rights to decent healthcare will go a long way to reduce the level of discrimination these kids face on a daily basis.” She added.
The event gathered over two thousand people from all over the country.
