{Two people from Gakenke district including the officer in charge of social welfare in Muzo sector and a 70-year old woman from Busengo sector of Gakenke district are detained by police over alleged spreading of genocide ideology.}
The spokesperson of police in Northern Province, IP Gasasira Innocent said that the investigations are ongoing.
“It has been realized that the old woman has spoken words full of genocide ideology and she will soon be handed over for prosecution. She has been detained at Busengo police station. Regarding the case of social affairs officer in Muzo sector, we are still investigating,” he said.
Article 135 of Rwanda penal code stipulates that whoever is found guilty of genocide ideology or other crimes connected thereto is subjected to receive a sentence ranging from 5 to 9 years and pay a fine of between Rwf 100,000 to 1,000,000.
