France TV ordered to pay €5,000 to a Rwandan priest suspected of Genocide crimes

{French court has ordered France 3 TV to pay €5,000 as damages to Father Wenceslas Munyeshyaka for accusing him of role in genocide against Tutsis in Rwanda}

On April 13, 2014 France 3 TV aired a documentary where it asserted role played by the clergyman in the Rwandan genocide.

According to media ethics the TV should have obeyed the presumption of Innocence throughout the documentary Film.

France Media reports that the decision to punish France 3 TV was taken yesterday by the High Court of Paris

Meanwhile Father Wenceslas Munyeshyaka has already been the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).

He also was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment in 2006 by a Rwandan court.

The ICTR requires the priest to be tried in France by a criminal court. His case is under investigation.
