FESPAD: Muhanga Prison Dance Group Wins 2Places

On February 26, 2013, Muhanga Prison won two places among the five winners that participated in the competitions of the Pan African Dance Festival Held in Huye District of the Southern Province.

Competitors were divided into two categories including; Modern Dances and Contemporary dances.

In Traditional dances, Imanzi troupe emerged winner with 70% score, Garuka Urebe Troupe from Muhanga Prison ranked Second with 60.5%, while a solo Artist Emmanuel Habimana emerged in third place with 60% .

In modern dance, Inshoza from the National University of Rwanda won the first place with 82% marks, while Felicien Riberakurora from Muhanga Prison held Second place with 56%.

The winners in each category were rewarded Frw 300,000, the second winner received Frw 200,000 and the third place awarded Frw150,000.

The winners will participate in the final competition scheduled on 2nd March, 2013 in Kigali.

The National Dance competition on traditional and contemporary dances will involve all the 30 districts representing the 5 provinces of the country including Kigali city.
