Female Journalists to be Empowered

{{Rwanda Women Journalists Association (ARFEM) has announced a two year project to empower female Journalists to make an active role in journalism field.}}

Faith Mbabazi, the Association’s chairperson said the project will help female journalists to identify their weaknesses as well as finding solutions for them.

She said that the ability of male journalists does not differ from that of female Journalists, but, she said “Girls are still with the problem of lack of self confidence” and it may affect their performance in media industry.

In line with attracting more girls in media industry, Mbabazi said there will be an award for female journalists who perform well to attract them in journalism practice.

It was noticed that many girls who enroll in journalism schools are not joining journalism field due to lack of self confidence.

However, ARFEM has decided to approach young girls to encourage them to do journalism.
