Farmers Urged to Use Fertilisers & Quality Seeds

{{Aimed at increasing Agricultural production, farmers are being encouraged to use fertilizers and improved seeds to boost productivity.}}

In this regard, Farmers in Nemba sector of Gakenke district are scheduled to get farm manure and add iron to their soils as a way of increasing the yields.

This also follows establishment of terraces made by the farmers to increase productivity of selected crops.

Farmers in Nemba sector have ploughed terraces on 46 hectares of land.

Since the establishement of terraces especially in Mataba, Muzo, Minazi and Busengo sectors under Umurenge vision program,crop yields have greatly improved especially beans and maize.

Mbarushimana, a farmer in Nemba sector confirms that manure fertilizers will boost production adding that terraces will be of great importance in increasing the yields and more grass for the livestock.
