The Rwanda Bureau of Sanitation, Water and Energy (EWSA) and the World Bank signed an agreement in the framework of support for SMEs in the energy sector (ESME).
This agreement will provide funding for several water projects and grants program of off-grid lighting.
Under this agreement, EWSA provide partial subsidies for hydropower projects, which will raise additional capital from investors and high-impact of local banks.
EWSA will support the funding of grants to selected companies to implement marketing activities and increase sales product.
Rwanda has a relatively low modern energy and fragile electricity consumption per capita is still below its neighbors in East Africa.
But the country has launched an ambitious program to increase access to modern energy services
