EWSA Says Power Cuts end Today

{{Energy, Water and Sanitation Authority (EWSA) has announced an end to power disruptions that have been ongoing for over a month throughout the country.}}

Prosper Mubera Birori a Publicist at EWSA said,“We have delivered as we had promised. Load-shedding that affected homes and businesses due to the failings of Jabana will be no more.”

Power which in some parts of the country could go off for over 12hours everyday while in some parts including Kigali city would witness frequent on and off supply.

The power disruptions have caused lossess worth millions of Rwanda Francs to business.

Milk processing plants and coolers have suffered a huge loss which resulted in a daily disposal of thousands of litres of wasted milk. Other business including welding and others most reliant on electricty have as well suffered a huge loss for over a month.

EWSA noted that repair works at Jabana substation have been completed after it suffered damages owing to vandalism.

On March 19 power disruptions were caused by the collapse of two transimmion lines of 110KV from the Jabana substation to the main substation in Gikondo.

The towers had been vandalised by unknown people that broke pieces of steel from them; later heavy rains caused the collapse of the towers.
