The State Minister in charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Mathias Harebamungu, said the decision aims at safeguarding the education quality which was on the verge of compromising academic standards.
“This is just aligning people with good education system so as to safeguard the quality of education. Sometimes you find people in senior two or four and suddenly jumping into senior six, this demoralizes the quality of our education as well as the future of this person; we have therefore ordered them to stop and meet REB officials to discuss how they can have the all requirements”.
The decision of imposing temporary suspension on the private coaching centers came barely two weeks after the Rwanda Education Board REB cancelled results of 574 private candidates that sat for final senior six examinations last year.
Dr. Harebamungu said this move aims at safeguarding the quality of education which has since been compromised by in adequate curricular of these centers he said.
