Duterimbere IMF participated in farmers and SMEs’ exhibition

DUTERIMBERE-IMF Ltd participated in a two days exhibition for farmers and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which took place in Musanze district, Northern Province on the 17th and 18th days of September 2015.

The exhibition themed “Agri Finance and Seeds Fair” was organised by AgriproFocus Rwanda, a NGO dedicated to promote farmers entrepreneurship, which is a network of Rwandan, Dutch and international agricultural professionals with the mission to enhance innovation in agricultural development and to facilitate partnerships and other transactions between agribusinesses and farmer entrepreneurs.

AgriproFocus Rwanda brought together both farmers and SMEs, in order to build sustainable partnerships.

While presenting to SMEs representatives the products and services offered by Micro finance Institutions, these last were urged to work closely with Microfinance institutions to get credit and other financial services.

“We presented the types of credits we offer to farmers individually and on cooperative level; they were convinced and decided to start working with us.” Hyacinthe Muhorakeye of DUTERIMBERE-IMF Ltd. said.

According to Muhoracyeye, the credit facilities offered by DUTERIMBERE IMF Ltd to support farmers, which were presented to participants during the exhibition, are: HUMURA MUHINZI, Farmers Credits and Warrantage.

HUMURA MUHINZI a credit facility offered to individual farmers or in cooperatives, is given to support farmers to harvest their crops on time as matter of preventing them to rot in the field.

With this type of loan, DUTERIMBERE-IMF offers 40% of the expected harvest value, which harvest serves as collateral.

Farmers credit is given to farmers whose prime focus is on subsistence agriculture.

DUTERIMBERE also offers a warrantage credeit facility, given to both individual farmers and in cooperatives to help them access storage facilities of their harvest while waiting for better offers on the market. The credit facility given can go up to 60% of the stored harvest.
