Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Celestin Twahirwa cautioned drivers against facilitating trafficking of drugs.
“We know there are drivers, who are hired by traffickers to transport the narcotics, especially at night. We are aware of such tricks but the good thing is that the public have continued to report such people, which have led to the successful detection and arrests of offenders on several occasions,” said ACP Twahirwa.
“Fighting drug trafficking and abuse remains among the Rwanda National Police priorities to mitigate their impact, and the public need to strengthen the partnership and give no room for the drug dealers and abusers,” he added.
He further appealed to owners of vehicles to always monitor their drivers and how their cars are being used, adding that in most cases the latter use the cars in such criminal businesses without the knowledge of the owners.
