Driver Arrested Attempting to Bribe Police Officer

A man was arrested on June 21 in Gasaka sector of Nyamagabe district for allegedly trying to bribe a police officer at the Mobile Motor vehicle Test Lane currently stationed in Nyamagabe.

Djumatatu Ibrahim, 34, allegedly offered a bribe of Rwf10, 000 to an officer on duty a to inspect his vehicle ahead of others who came before him.

The suspect is currently detained at Gasaka.

Chief Superintendent of Police Hubert Gashagaza, Police spokesperson for Southern region lauded the officer for acting professionally adding that corruption is no mercy to any officer caught in corruption.

He also warned drivers and the general public against such illegal illegal tendencies.

“If you have a problem, address it to concerned parties because the solution will be got for you other than offering a bribe. Corruption is a serious offence and anyone caught indulging in such will face the wrath of the law,” CSP Gashagaza warned.
