Single mothers urged to tip youth on preventing unforeseen pregnancies

{Non government organization (EJI) promoting equitable justice mainly for women and children requested single mothers in Gasabo district to use their experience to motivate girls in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies. }

These girls witnessed how they suffered from hard life after giving birth at a young age. They have faced family ban and call upon legal aid or other projects to improve daily lives.

Some of single mothers have unveiled their testimonies on this 30th October organized by EJI. One of these girls said that she has been in hit arguments with her family since she gave birth. She has been threatened; however she sought resilience establishing her shop despite discouragement of the child’s father who did not provide any help.

The same incident has happened to Kaneza (not real name) who became pregnant at the age of 15 .Kaneza attests that she is kept in isolation of her family and request for help to improve livelihoods.

Musirikira David, Gasabo district counselor in charge of youth, also requested the youth to prevent and advice fellows to prevent unforeseen pregnancies .He asked them not to sink into sorrow for dark past.

Copain Fabrice Bienaime, head of EJI, said that charitable acts to support single mothers have started in Kigali .As he said pregnant girls receive legal assistance in case impregnators refuse children.

EJI organization says that fifty single mothers have been helped to start small projects for their development in efforts to heal their wounds.
