Muhumuza has been a Supreme Court Judge since December 2016, while Cyanzayire was Former National Ombudsman, a position in which she served for five years before being replaced by Anastase Murekezi last year.
Muhumuza holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the National University of Rwanda and has been a prosecutor since he left law school 14 years ago. He has also been involved in leading prosecutions of international crimes as a National Prosecutor before being appointed Prosecutor General in September 2013.
Before that, Muhumuza served as National Public Prosecution Authority chief administrator for both Huye and Nyarugenge Intermediate levels from 2006 to 2011. He had earlier served as a Deputy Prosecutor-General of the Court of Appeal in Ruhengeri and Nyanza before the judicial reforms of 2004.
Cyanzayire returns to the Supreme Court, after she presided over it before being replaced by Prof. Sam Rugege.
Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting also approved Kalimunda Muyoboke Aimé as the President of the Court of Appeal and Mukamulisa Marie Thérèse as its Vice President.
Kanzayire Bernadette, Former Deputy Ombudsman in charge of preventing and fighting injustice, has been appointed as the Vice-President of High Court.
