Coping: Use food sparingly–Mayor to recipients

The request was made Tuesday as the Gatsibo District Deputy Mayor for Social Welfare, Kantengwa Mary, supervised food distribution in Ngarama sector,where rice, beans, maize flour, sweet potatoes and cooking oil were given out.

“We urge you not to waste any food particle. For those that can tend to your gardens, the food donations will help you to work without starving,” she said.

One of the recipients, a mother who lives in Ngarama cell in Urukundo Village, said she used to work as a janitor. Following COVID-19 prevention cautionary measures, she lost her job which provide for her children.

“I will sparingly use the food given to me as I am looking for something else to do. ”
Residents in fourteen sectors in Gatsibo district have already been provided with food from the government and private sector.
