
This year’s seventh edition of the COPA Coca Cola football tournament enters the semi-finals and finals this weekend in Nyamagabe District in the South Province.
In girl’s category Nyanza, Kamonyi, Rutsiro and Nyagatare while for the boy’s category Nyamagabe, Muhanga, Nyarugenge and Rubavu.
The draws of the semi-finalists will be made on Friday evening (today) at the GS ACEPER in Nyamagabe; the semis will be played on Saturday while the winners will meet for the final match on this Sunday.
The Bralirwa-sponsored U-17 tournament through their soft drinks Coca Cola brings together teams from all districts of the country.
It started with over 400 teams four months ago around the country and only eight teams (four for boys and four for girls) are still in the race for the top prize of Rwf500, 000 and trophy.
“This tournament helps our young players to develop their talents and the best of them get a chance to go to train at the some of the best academies under world class coaches,” the Secretary General of Rwanda School Sports Federation (RSSF), Paterne Rwigema said.
“The tournament has become more serious and people and kids are coming to enjoy the event, it is more exciting than previous years, we hope to see the best finals over the weekend, we have indentified many talented kids and they will be the future of Rwanda” he added.
Meanwhile the Copa Coca-Cola ambassadors, Urban Boys visited Qualifying schools GS Kiyanza and Apapec of Murambi in Rulindo District (Byumba) this weekend to encourage the Copa players to love football.
The music group Urban Boys trio; Safi Niyibikora aka Madiba, James Manzi aka Humble Jizzo and Muhammad Nshimiyimana known by stage name Nizzo will perform at the final match in Nyamagabe.

First runners-up: Rwf300.000
Third position: Rwf200.000
Fourth position Rwf 150.000
