An inmate in Nyanza prison is dead after a fight inside the prison facility.
Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) announced that in the night of Saturday, Frodouard Minani died after a fight with an inmate at Nyanza Correctional prison in Southern Province.
RCS spokesperson, SIP Hillary Sengabo has said that the deceased was a convict of Genocide crimes against the Tutsi. He died in Nyanza hospital.
“On the night of Saturday in the wee hours, Minani got into a fight with an inmate and got injured but was later taken to the hospital for treatment. He passed away after 24 hours. An investigation is being conducted to find out the cause of the fight and death.”
There are over 6998 inmates in Nyanza correctional facility.
