{{Community Policing Committees of Rusororo sector were on Tuesday given sixty six mobile phones to help them enhance security through easy and quick sharing of information.}}
The ceremony was part of the four-day campaign initiated by the Rwanda National Police and Rwanda Defense Forces [RDF] in collaboration with Gasabo District, aimed at visiting all sectors in the district in bid to improve security.
The Regional Police Commander, ACP Bosco Rangira who was the chief guest reminded the community policing committees that the commonly recorded crimes in the area include alcoholism,drug abuse, prostitution, robbery and loitering.
He urged the grass root authorities to effectively use the mobile phones to curb down on these crimes.
ACP Rangira also challenged leaders to encourage people in their cells to participate in income generating activities like agriculture and farming as their involvement in these projects will provide employment and reduce crimes in the area.
The Executive Secretary of Rusororo sector, Jacques Uwimana urged the participants to create a good image of the sector by engaging in government developmental activities.
The event which took place at the offices of Rusororo sector district was also graced by the Community Liaison officer Inspector Alphonse Rutayisire.
